2003
- Mesob Ethiopian Restaurant opens in Montclair, New Jersey, founded by sisters Berekti and Akberet "Aki" Mengistu.
2010
- Celebrated the 7th anniversary with the popular "7 Words for 7 Years" community contest.
- Expanded cultural programming with Ethiopian music, dance performances and Ethiopian New Year celebrations.
2011
- Honored with the National Restaurant Association's Faces of Diversity – American Dream Award.
- Earned national recognition at the White House / National Restaurant Association, highlighting Mesob's contribution to diversity, entrepreneurship and excellence in the American restaurant industry.
- Recognized for excellence in the Zagat 2011/2012 and 2012/13 New Jersey Restaurant Survey.
2014
- Received the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
2015
- Named an OpenTable Diners' Choice winner.
2017
- Named a Yelp People's Choice winner.
2021
- Introduced the Mesob Takeout Experience, bringing Ethiopian dining traditions into guests' homes.
2022
- Winner of Best of Montclair by The Montclair Girl.
Today
- Continues serving authentic Ethiopian cuisine while preserving and promoting Ethiopian culture through food, hospitality and education.
